At Dili International School, team sports form an important part of our secondary program, promoting both physical fitness and personal growth. Each term, one sport is selected for all high school grades to participate in. Students compete in an intra-school elimination competition, with teams facing off until a single winning group earns the opportunity to challenge the teachers’ team in a final match.
Sports such as volleyball, cricket, and futsal are rotated throughout the year, providing students with a variety of physical and strategic challenges. The emphasis is on learning the skills, teamwork, and tactics unique to each game, while fostering school spirit and a sense of shared achievement.
Participation in these competitions helps students develop communication, cooperation, leadership, and resilience. They learn to balance competitiveness with fair play, to manage both success and defeat with maturity, and to support one another on and off the field.
Through regular involvement in team sports, students gain valuable experience in collaboration, decision-making, and persistence—qualities that extend well beyond physical education and contribute to their wider development as confident, capable young adults.
